Hockley County Municipal Warrant Coverage
The Texas Judicial Branch directory inspected lists municipal courts for Anton, Levelland, Ropesville, and Sundown. It did not show Smyer Municipal Court. That directory finding does not prove Smyer has no court; it means the public sources reviewed did not supply a verified municipal-court route.
For a Smyer citation, read the court named on the paper and call City Hall at 806-234-3861 to ask where the matter belongs. County or state traffic may be assigned to a JP. For city warrant questions, do not assume a county list or another city's payment portal covers the case.
Hockley County Municipal Court Warrants
A municipal court handles city ordinances and fine-only Class C matters, including many city traffic cases. It can issue process after a missed setting or unpaid obligation. Those records belong to the city court and do not necessarily appear on the sheriff's page or a county citation route.
Hockley has separate municipal courts in four cities. A city citation should be checked with its named court, even when the same city also has a JP precinct office. The JP, municipal court, and sheriff are different channels.
Levelland Municipal Warrant Search
Levelland's Municipal Court is inside City Hall at 1709 Avenue H. The city-linked portal offers searches by citation number and date of birth, driver's license, Social Security number, vehicle plate, name and date of birth, or business name. It is a city citation lookup and payment route, not a Hockley sheriff warrant database.
The court says a signed citation is a promise to appear and asks the holder to contact the court by the date on the ticket, usually about ten days after issuance. If a portal result does not explain an FTA or capias, call 806-894-7975 and ask whether the judge requires an appearance.
The Levelland Municipal Court page shows its citation search and payment route:
City Court is inside City Hall, not the county courthouse.
Hockley County Cities With Municipal Courts
Four cities have municipal-court entries in the current Texas Judicial Branch directory inspected. These courts are separate from Hockley County's four JP precinct courts. Smyer has a city-government contact but no municipal-court entry was located, so the city should confirm its route from the citation rather than from an assumed court name.
| City | Court | What It Handles |
|---|---|---|
| Levelland | Levelland Municipal Court | Traffic, parking, ordinances, Class C, city citation FTA |
| Sundown | Sundown Municipal Court | City ordinance, traffic, Class C |
| Anton | Anton Municipal Court | City ordinance and Class C matters |
| Ropesville | Ropesville Municipal Court | City ordinance, traffic, Class C |
Ropesville Municipal Warrant Arrangements
Ropesville Municipal Court is inside City Hall at 107 Hockley Main. Its published page says Judge McAuley alone may make citation arrangements. Cash is accepted in person; cashier's check, money order, and card are also listed. The card service fee is 2.45% or $3 minimum.
The city page includes “ENTER PHONE NUMBER” in its phone-payment sentence, so that line is incomplete and should not be used. Call 806-562-3531 before paying or visiting and ask whether the case is already a capias, whether an appearance is required, and how the court records compliance.
The Ropesville Municipal Court page gives the verified contact and payment instructions:
The court's own directions control; the incomplete phone-payment line is not a usable number.
Checking a Municipal Court Warrant
Start with the named city court. Levelland has the only municipal search interface documented in detail. Ropesville gives direct court and payment instructions, Sundown has a Municipal Court portal tile, and Anton's court contact comes from the state directory. For Smyer, confirm the issuing court through City Hall.
- Use the city portal only for a citation from the city it names.
- Call the municipal court with the citation or cause number, name, and date of birth.
- Ask whether a city police or records office has a separate contact; no direct warrant line was located for Anton, Sundown, or Ropesville.
- Request court records from the presiding judge or court under judicial-access rules, and confirm any visit in advance.
Sundown Warrant Payment Portal Limits
Sundown's city-linked Tyler portal lists Municipal Court as a service beside utility billing and gives phone payment at 866-283-2765. City Hall is listed at 809 Slaughter Avenue, with city contact 806-229-3131 and mailing address P.O. Box 600.
The landing page does not expose warrant search fields or say that a payment clears a warrant. Call the city court and ask whether the citation became an FTA or capias, whether an appearance is required, and how it reports compliance.
The city-linked portal shows the Municipal Court service tile and city contact information:
A service tile is useful for routing, but it is not a warrant status result.
Inside a Municipal Court Warrant
No sample municipal-warrant screen was found for Hockley County. A city court may be able to confirm a cause number, charge, issuing judge, balance, and status, but local field names and code formats were not published. Ask the court what its record actually contains.
| Warrant / Cause Number | Local format not published Ask the city court for its case identifier. |
|---|---|
| Charge / Offense | City ordinance, traffic, Class C, or FTA description as kept by the court. |
| Issuing Court | Name the municipal court; do not substitute a nearby JP. |
| Bond / Fine Amount | Hockley publishes no municipal warrant bond schedule. |
| Status | Ask whether the warrant is active, recalled, or otherwise closed. |
Anton Municipal Warrant or JP #4?
Anton has two distinct court routes. The state directory lists Anton Municipal Court at P.O. Box 127, phone 806-997-2801, fax 806-997-5026, and cityofanton@yahoo.com. Hockley JP #4 is separately listed at 313 Main with the county's general JP phone and a different OCA number.
A city-officer or ordinance citation belongs to the municipal court; a county or highway citation may be assigned to JP #4. No Anton warrant portal or payment instructions were located. Use the court named on the ticket, and call the sheriff if the issuing office remains unclear.
The county JP page identifies the separate precinct route for county cases:
Keep Anton Municipal Court and JP #4 as separate offices when asking about a warrant.
How to Resolve a Municipal Court Warrant
The city court controls its warrant and decides what resolution is available. Hockley publishes no universal municipal bond amount, recall form, walk-in procedure, or amnesty. A payment portal may accept a balance without confirming whether a judge requires an appearance.
- Confirm the court, active status, amount, and any appearance requirement.
- Ask the judge or clerk whether payment, a new date, or a motion is appropriate.
- Follow the approved method and keep the receipt or court order.
- Ask when the court will update its record and any state FTA/FTP report.
Warning: Do not assume payment alone recalls a municipal warrant; get the issuing court's instructions and confirm the record afterward.
