Hockley County Warrant Search Has No Single Box
The Hockley County sheriff's site gives a warrants contact, but it does not publish a searchable active-warrant database. The jail roster is for people in custody, not a list of every unserved warrant. The county's JP page links GovRec for citation payment and requires the user to pick the correct precinct. Those tools answer different questions.
When the court is unknown, call the sheriff at 806-894-3126 and ask where a personal status check belongs. For current custody or bond routing, the jail number is 806-894-9334. Neither number is described as a dedicated 24-hour warrant line.
The county contact page labels the sheriff route “Warrants.” It is a useful starting point, not proof that every JP or municipal case appears in one county file.
The official sheriff page shows the Hockley warrant contact and jail roster link:
Use that page to confirm the published office route, then call before traveling.
Searching for a Warrant in Hockley County
Use the issuing court when you know it. A felony case may involve the 286th District Court and District Clerk; county-court criminal matters route through the County Clerk. A JP or municipal court holds its own traffic, ordinance, and fine-only cases. The sheriff can help identify the county law-enforcement route when the source is unclear.
Before calling, gather the person's own full legal name, date of birth, citation or cause number, city or precinct, and approximate court date. A name match or missing online result is not final confirmation. Ask the office to identify the issuing court, warrant type, current status, and the next step for resolving the case.
- Call the sheriff first if you do not know which office has the matter. No sheriff warrant search form was found.
- For a known citation, contact the city court or JP named on the paper and provide the case details.
- Use the District Clerk or County Clerk for the court file that matches the case level.
- Send a narrow county public-information request for an existing sheriff-held record if a record copy is needed.
- Use DPS OmniBase only for reported failure-to-appear or failure-to-pay compliance, then confirm with the court.
Hockley County Warrant Lookup: Levelland Citations
Levelland has the county's most detailed city citation lookup. It is not a sheriff database, and its fields do not establish coverage of another city or JP. The search page presents these routes:
| Route | Information Asked For | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Citation number | Citation number and date of birth | City citation search |
| Driver license | License number, state, and date of birth | Use only for your own case |
| Social Security number | SSN and date of birth | Sensitive field, not needed for every route |
| Vehicle | Plate number and state | City portal route |
| Name | First name, last name, and date of birth | Confirm any match with the court |
| Business | Business name | Not an individual warrant check |
The city portal's search screen shows its citation routes, not a countywide warrant result:
For a city ticket, call Levelland Municipal Court if the search result does not answer whether a capias is active.
Hockley County Warrant Search Fields Explained
There are no published Hockley sheriff search fields to walk through. The table in the preceding section describes Levelland's city-court citation tool only. The county-linked GovRec portal is a JP payment route; its page asks users to choose the correct court, and the text inspection did not expose a warrant-status form.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| JP selection | Court selector | Required to choose the right court | GovRec is linked for citation payment, not a complete warrant search. |
| Citation number | Text field | Shown on Levelland portal route | Pair with date of birth when that route requests it. |
| Name and date of birth | Text and date | Shown on Levelland route | Confirm with the municipal court; other courts are not covered. |
Hockley County Warrant Lookup and OmniBase Limits
Texas DPS's Failure to Appear/Failure to Pay program can report a citation issue that affects license renewal. It is not a public warrant system. DPS says its license specialists cannot tell callers whether an outstanding warrant exists; the issuing city or county court must answer that.
If a court reports that a fine or appearance item is clear, DPS says the driver record may take three to five business days to update. That timing concerns the reported FTA/FTP item, not every Hockley warrant. Call the court that owns the citation before treating a DPS status as a resolution.
The county-linked GovRec page shows the JP selection step for citation payments:
Pick the JP identified on the citation before using the payment route.
What Hockley County Warrant Search Can Show
No public Hockley sample warrant result was available to inspect. A case file or an official response may identify the issuing court, cause, offense, bond instruction, and process status, but local list labels and number formats were not published. Do not treat the following as a sample screen or a county code table.
| Warrant Number | Format not published Ask the issuing court for its identifier. |
|---|---|
| Charge / Offense | Article 15.02 requires an arrest warrant to state the offense; a local sample was not found. |
| Issuing Court | District, county, JP, municipal, or other authorized magistrate route. |
| Bond Amount | No Hockley bond schedule was located. Confirm amount and type with the court or jail. |
| Status | Hockley does not publish local status codes or a sample listing. |
Hockley County Warrant Records: Call the Court
Hockley County has separate record routes. The District Clerk handles district-court files, including felony and family matters. The County Clerk is the contact for county-court criminal records. The 286th District Court covers Hockley and Cochran Counties, so a cause number and court name help staff route a request without sending it to the wrong desk.
For a record copy held by county law enforcement, use the county's Public Information Request channel. State the record sought and the approximate date. The County Clerk and District Clerk pages are different offices, and a clerk may direct a warrant question to the judge, sheriff, or issuing court.
The District Clerk page identifies the county's district-record route:
Use the District Clerk for district causes and the County Clerk for county-court files.
Where to Check Warrants in Hockley County
The correct office follows the case. Call the sheriff for county warrant routing; call the JP that received a county traffic citation; call the city municipal court for a city ticket. A family or district-court case may belong with the District Court and District Clerk. A county-court misdemeanor file routes through the County Clerk or County Court.
Texas has no single public statewide warrant lookup. OmniBase covers reported FTA/FTP compliance, not every court order. If the court is not clear, start with the sheriff at 806-894-3126, then ask for the specific court and records office. Do not treat the jail roster, a city payment screen, or a no-result as a complete county search.
Hockley County Juvenile Warrant Access
Public access depends on the record type. Texas Code of Criminal Procedure Article 15.26 addresses public access to an arrest warrant and its supporting affidavit. Family Code section 58.010 makes a child's arrest warrant and supporting complaint or affidavit confidential except for authorized access.
Court case records also follow judicial-access rules, while sheriff-held records may be subject to Public Information Act exceptions. A requester should identify the court or office and ask what may be released. A public-information request does not make a sealed or confidential record public.
The Texas Family Code explains juvenile confidentiality protections:
Do not infer an adult record from the absence of a restricted juvenile file.
Hockley County Warrant Records and Request Limits
Request county-held records by email to publicinforequest@hockleycounty.org or mail to 802 Houston Street, Suite 103, Levelland. No warrant-specific form or response time is listed. Court files need a judicial-access route.
Government Code Chapter 552 has law-enforcement exceptions; Rule 12 governs qualifying judicial records. Request an existing record and ask its custodian about limits.
Key Rules:
Arrest-warrant access is subject to other law and any confidentiality restriction.
Juvenile arrest-warrant records are confidential under Texas Family Code section 58.010.
A no-result in one system does not show that every court has been checked.
For the court-access distinction, see the Texas Judicial Branch access policy and Government Code Chapter 552.
